A large international organisation within the product distribution sector is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support its finance function. The role focuses on accurate transactional accounting, reconciliations, and month-end support, contributing to strong financial controls within a regulated and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily bank reconciliations
- Ensure timely posting of bank transactions into the accounting system
- Post journals and support month-end closing activities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date ledger entries
- Reconcile key control accounts, including GRNI, duty accruals, freight accruals, stock in transit, and rebates
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts
- Support variance analysis and KPI reporting (margin, inventory, freight costs, etc.)
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and financial controls
- Support internal and external audit requirements
- Assist with finance projects and process improvements
- Manage queries across multiple business stakeholders
Requirements:
- AAT qualified or studying towards CIMA/ACCA (or equivalent)
- Previous experience in an accounting or finance role
- Proficient in Excel and familiar with accounting systems (experience with SAP or JD Edwards beneficial)
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in a multicurrency environment
